Homework Policy
I will give homework to reinforce what has been learned in class, prepare students for upcoming lessons, teach responsibility, extend concepts, and develop positive study habits. I usually give students time in class to begin their assignments. If they are using their time wisely, they will have a good start before they come home. I try not to assign homework over the weekend. I feel as though your weekends are already very busy and it is nice to spend time doing things as a family.
Homework is to be turned in first thing in the morning. If your child has not completed an assignment, he/she will be staying inside during the second recess to complete their work. Points will be deducted for late assignments. If the assignment is not turned in by the end of the week, the student will receive a zero in the grade book.

Assignment Notebook
The students will be receiving their own assignment notebook. At the end of each day, we write down every assignment that needs to be completed by the next day. If your child has completed that assignment, it should be checked off in the notebook. Please check the assignment notebook every night so you will know what we are working on in school. After you have made sure that your child has completed the work, please sign the page. I do check assignment notebooks periodically to make sure the students are sharing them with you. It is the child's responsibility to make sure you have checked the notebook.

Discipline - Rules
1. Listen, follow directions, and do things the first time you are told.
2. Respect others and their property.
3. Raise your hand and wait to be called on to speak.
4. Be prepared for class every day.
5. Do your very best at all times.

Consequences :

1) Verbal warning

2) 10 minutes off of recess

3) Miss all of recess

4) phone call/note home

5) send to principal

Severe Clause: Students committing a serious offense will be directed to the principal immediately.

**Consequences may be adjusted to fit the misbehavior at the teachers discretion.

To encourage students to follow the classroom rules, we will reinforce appropriate behavior with verbal and nonverbal praise, awards, rewards, and tickets to be used for classroom privileges. We expect our students to follow all classroom and school rules throughout the day.

Weekly Progress Reports
Please look for these every Friday. They are a quick way for you to see your child's progress in school work and behavior. If a student is missing work, they are responsible for taking the work home to finish. Missing work is posted in the classroom. Please sign and return the form the following Monday.

Take Home Folder
The Take Home Folder will be coming home nightly and should return to school each morning. Check the folder daily for notes, information, graded papers, and homework.

Book Orders
If you choose to order books from the monthly book orders, please return your order to school by the due date. Please include a check made out to Scholastic Book Clubs.

Work missed because of a vacation will be assigned upon the child's return to school. Vacation request forms can be found the school office.

Specials Schedule:
Our classes special schedule is as follows. We have a rotating schedule.
Gym: Blue
Music: Red

For safety reasons, please be sure to sign in at the office if you will be visiting school. Students who arrive at school before 8:45 should report to the office. This will ensure that students are not left unsupervised.

Donations to our classroom are greatly appreciated. Some of the items we can use throughout the year are:

· Disposable cleaning wipes
· Individually wrapped candies/snacks for goody jar
· Inexpensive toys for the treasure box
· Games for indoor recess
· Books for our classroom library

· Boxes of Tissues

If you have any questions or concerns throughout the year, please feel free to contact me through a note or by email. I would also be happy to schedule a time to meet with you personally to resolve any concerns you may have. I believe that communication plays an essential role in the learning process. We appreciate your continuing support at home and we are looking forward to working with you and your child to create the most successful year possible!
