There is no substitute for the time your child spends in class learning with their peers. When a child misses school, they miss academic time that cannot be recaptured adequately. Because of this fact, the state requires the district to maintain a student attendance level above 94% each year and ties state funding to the amount of time students spend in school.
DESE has released state achievement data to the public. Our District showed gains in several areas, but did not meet Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). You can access the district's AYP results and state report card at the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) website:
MAP test is now complete. Many of the kids have worked very hard to prove how much they have learned under the direction of their teachers. We will get results back some time in September if the state is able to keep their deadlines. We will use that data to further develop our curriculum and improve our instruction.

CALLING ALL FORMER PLAYERS OF LEROY LEWIS: Join us @ 6pm for a night of volleyball as we dedicate the gym to one of the winning-est coaches of all time! Lewis coached 12 consecutive undefeated volleyball seasons with 146 consecutive wins. The JV game starts at 6pm. The dedication will be after the JV game and before the Varsity game. A volleyball will be available at the gate for former players to sign before the game and will be presented to the family. Please spread the word to former players so they may attend this special event.

PTO is planning a back to school event on September 11 so check back to see the date and time.

Urgent: Anyone wishing to substitute for any district position must contact us to complete new required e-Verify paperwork before she can complete your certificate.

Welcome to the new and improved website! We are excited about the upcoming year. This new look is just a small example of the work we are doing to make education more productive and effective for our children. We are especially excited that 2010 marks the 100 year anniversary of the original high school structure that still houses our offices, media center, and board room. Stay tuned for more content to be added as students and teachers return.

Sincerely,

Superintendent
